Group Changes: Notify The Area Records Coordinator Of Group Changes

Please submit group changes including group location, zoom information, group name to the Group Records Coordinator at grouprecords@vermontalanonalateen.org. Include the group name, district the group is in and its WSO ID number.

New Groups: Register New Groups Directly With WSO

To register a new group, register through WSO directly. Go to New Al-Anon Group Registration. Then click New Group Al-Anon Registration if your new group has a physical location. (You choose this option even if your new group will be hybrid, meeting in-person and virtually.) Or click Electronic Group Registration if your new group will be registering as a permanent electronic group (PEG).

Group Records Process

A group may be part of the Vermont area whether it is in-person, hybrid or virtual through the appropriate registration process. Vermont adopted guidelines for permanent electronic groups that ask to become part of the Vermont Area. See the VT PEG Motion and guidelines.

The area group records coordinator: Prrocesses group changes, updates the WSO database, receives notifications of new group registrations, notifies the area website coordinator and the Meeting List Coordinator.

Choosing A Group’s Name

“When choosing an Al-Anon or Alateen group name, consider the welcoming and comforting focus of Tradition Five. Anyone affected by someone else’s drinking is welcome at an Al-Anon meeting. It is vital that group names are inviting and attractive and that they avoid public controversy.. Our spiritual growth has its roots in the principle of anonymity to enhance the sense of belonging and unity.” p85 Al-Anon/Alateen Service Manual

Find the Choosing A Naming Policy in the Al-Anon/Alateen Service Manual page 85 and Naming A Group on page 28. Also find Choosing a Name on the Group Registration Frequently Asked Questions.
