Task Force Area/Convention Committee 2016-2018

The Convention/Area Relationship Task Force was formed by a vote at the 2016 Fall Assembly and was charged with examining the relationship between the Convention and the Area, reporting on their findings and making recommendations to the Assembly. Note: The Task Force was distinct from the Convention Committee. The Convention Committee carries out the Convention planning and events.

2016
A MOTION passed at the Fall 2016 Assembly that charged the Assembly to form a task force to consider the relationship between Area 56 and the Vermont Convention. The Convention/Area Relationship Task Force was formed. A chair was elected.
2017

Two MOTIONS passed at the Spring 2017 Assembly.

    • Motion #1 was adopted to accept the proposed mission statement that indicates the desire of the Assembly to establish a direct relationship to the Convention and that allowed the Task Force to continue working to clarify the nuts and bolts of how the Convention and Assembly will interact.
    • Motion #2 was adopted that Vermont Area Assembly agreed to adopt the WSO Conventions Guidelines (G-20) as the foundation guideline for sponsoring a Vermont Area Convention.
      The motion was accepted with this Informational footnote: Issues unique to Vermont will be defined by future work of the Task Force for approval by the Assembly at a later date.

2018
Spring

At the Spring 2018 Assembly, the committee presented an appendix to the G20 guideline. The appendix defined the responsibilities of the Area 56 Assembly and the Area World Service Committee (AWSC) as they relate to the Area 56 Convention. The committee asked GRs to discuss it with their groups. This appendix was voted on at the Fall 2018 Assembly.
