Electronic Alateen Validation & Implementation Planning
The below is an excerpt from page 28 of the World Service Conference 2025 Summary See p16 of the Summary to read the full presentation by Sarah S, Director of Programs, World Services Office. This presentation relates to the possibility of registering electronic Alateen groups with their Areas.
At the 2024 WSC, Staff presented and facilitated a discussion on potential Global Electronic Alateen Safety Minimums (Global EASM) and Electronic Alateen Safety and Behavioral Requirements that could be applied to Areas within the WSC Structure (WSC EASBR). Staff shared the process undertaken to engage trusted servants, both inside and beyond the WSC Structure, in their development. They confirmed for Delegates that, once an implementation plan is approved, implementing the WSC EASBR would be optional, and that certification would be available for those Areas already certified to use the Alateen name.
Annual Alateen Recertification Process
Every year, each Area in the World Service Conference Structure is required to take part in the Annual Alateen Recertification process in order to continue to use the Alateen name. The 2003 Alateen Motion from the Board of Trustees (see the Appendix of the Al‑Anon/Alateen Service Manual [P-24/27]) and the policy for Alateen explain this.
The recertification process is two-fold.
First: To verify that every registered Alateen group has currently certified Al-Anon Members Involved in Alateen Service (AMIAS):
- as Group Sponsor(s)
- as the Current Mailing Address (CMA) for the Alateen group
- as a Phone Contact for the public for the Alateen group
Second: To verify the current certification of all AMIAS.
The Area Alateen Coordinator/Area Alateen Process Person coordinates the verification process. The WSO asks all Areas to complete the Alateen recertification by June 15, 2026! Don’t miss this opportunity to share your recovery by serving Alateen!
